Committee Structure – General Membership Committee (GMC)

The basic CFPE committee – General Membership Committee (GMC); meeting topics range from technical / engineering subjects to logistics, regulatory and management matters. Discussion leaders for each subject covered are drawn from member companies or from relevant consultancies or suppliers.
Currently the main topics under discussion are:
- Maintenance excellence & management - an important, continuing exchange that features at nearly every meeting
- Facility Management (FM) review & evaluation - several major pharma companies, led by Astra Zeneca are presently reviewing their FM strategy and sharing experiences
- Contractor screening, monitoring and registration systems - an ongoing collective effort to develop common approaches and to identify "Quality" contractors and suppliers
- LEAN factory - a roundtable effort to improve planning and implementation
- Energy conservation and energy usage benchmarking - a continuing brainstorming effort led by Andy Gibson of Pfizer.
- Construction (Design & Management) (CDM) contracting regulations review - part of an ongoing effort to assist one another to "stay on top" of the situation regarding all health, safety and environmental legislation & guidelines
- Waste management - a recent initiative, led by Paul Andrews of Smith & Nephew, to work together among member sites to establish "best practice"
September, 2008 Special Interest Group workshops for Energy Conservation, LEAN Culture and Maintenance Excellence have been successfully held on a periodic basis.
